On February 5th, Kang Bu Heung from the Psychotherapy department, was selected as a supporter of the ‘2012 Youth Smoking Prevention Campaign’ which is hosted by the Korean Smoking Association.

‘The Youth Smoking Prevention Campaign’ began in 1998 and this year marks the 14th year of the event. The goal of the event is to prevent youth smoking by instituting a nationwide policy whereby when purchasing a cigarette, youth must show an ID card and have their age verified.

From December 10th to January 20th, Kang and his partner have been actively on the job for 40 days. Accompanying them are about 300 university students who are attempting to gain signatures on a campaign agreement letter.

Kang, selected as the best among the supporters, was awarded a certificate and a million won scholarship at the ceremony. Kang stated, “It was a rewarding experience because I could volunteer to help prevent youth smoking. Although the experience is over, I am planning to continue to spread awareness about the importance of a verifying ID card to many people.”
