A generous donation by two alumni KIU professors who returned to teaching has made headlines. Professor Hyun Sung Kim, the head of academic information for Cyber Security and professor Eun Jun Yoon, the dean of the Department of Cyber security, have announced their intent to donate 20 million won in support of the development of the university.
Professor Kim and Yoon have been researching subjects connected to cyber security and were supposed to receive benefits from the special research fund system based on the excellent results of their study. They also commented in the interview that they wanted to create a caring atmosphere by fostering a culture of donation.
Professor Yoon said, “I wanted to express my gratitude to the alma mater. It has been 50 years since the school was founded. I have received and learned a lot from the school and guess it is the right time to pay back. I am so pleased and proud to be a part of the school. I will do my best research and lecture”.
Professor Kim said, “ I have achieved so many things through my alma mater so far. That is why I hope this small donation will be the priming water to educate talented students. I will put my best efforts into researching and lecturing so that I can be their mentor who can provide various experiences.
Meanwhile, the Department of Cyber Security at KIU is the only cyber security related department in the Kyung- Buk area. The department is responsible for training experts to respond against cyber invasions. |
