Hyun Tae Jung, the President of Kyungil University (K.I.U), one of the leading universities of training academy-style of business establishment, selected a number of excellent students to participate in a business training program in Silicon Valley, United States, after the year 2011 and 2012.

Kyungil University is operating several different programs to spread spirits and atmosphere for  youth entrepreneurship while running various leading programs for business establishment. The
‘Study Abroad Program for Excellent Students in Business Establishment’ is the major program.

A total of 18 students and 2 guiding professors participated in the Silicon Valley training program which operated from August 21st to 28th. Those who participated in the program had their entire expenses paid since they were deemed to be excellent students and had to go through in depth interviews to win the position from a large pool of candidates.

The typical schedule of the training program involves visiting the world’s leading venture company’s headquarters, Google and Facebook. There was an in-depth discussion on August 26th, about entrepreneurship, Google’s corporate culture, and corporate entrepreneurship promotion system of Google with four researchers who work in the best environment on the basis of freedom and self-control.

Also, there was a chance to visit Facebook headquarter and make a comparison between  Facebook’s and Google’s corporate culture by arranging a meeting with K-Group (a group of Korean workers who work in Silicon Valley) chairman. Yoon Ki-Won, a senior from the department of foreign language, stated that he was impressed the most with Google’s management structure as engineers work on the basis of mutual trust in an open network.

In addition to global companies, they visited KOTRA and the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology and Technology Cooperation Center in the U.S. which supports domestic enterprises to enter the Silicon Valley and conducted a lecture about business-ecosystems in a workshop format.

Due to the training, the students have improved and upgraded their entrepreneurial spirit and sense of challenge by taking special lectures such as “What is innovation” conducted by famous venture capitalists who work in Silicon Valley. The special lecture of the Silicon Valley ecosystem and discussion with K-Group members at the American Institute of Industrial Technology Cooperation Center has greatly affected those students on expanding their knowledge and deepening their understanding.

Professor Um Shin-Jo (a leader professor from Department of Architectural Engineering), says,
“It was a nice opportunity for our students to conceive dreams of operating their own business”.
Another guiding professor Choi Jong-Ho, from the Department of Renewable Energy says,
“This quite short experience will be an important foundation for students’ life as well as the  business plan.”

Kyung Il University Business Establishment Support Group will enhance their exclusive  business programs, including the expansion of training abroad programs, in order to inspire youth entrepreneurship.
