Kyungil University (KIU) has conferred an honorary scholarship certificate and awarded a small gift to sophomore student,
Jung Ju-Yeon who majors in Nursing and a junior student, Kim Sang -Hoon who majors in Emergency Rescue. KIU introduced ‘The Honorary Scholarship Program’ last year, which awards an honorary scholarship certificate marked as ‘0’ won, to students who defer his/her scholarship to other students. Mr, Kim, Sang-Hoon and Ms. Jung, Ju-Yeon have become the second and the third honorary scholarship students following the first KIU honorary scholarship recipient last April.

The Department of Scholarship Welfare has decided to evenly distribute the benefits to those in need and the total amount of scholarship money that the students had given up is 3,500,000 won.
Ms. Jung says, “Since I starting attending this university, I think that I have gained a lot of benefits from the school by doing some global programs and student ambassador activities. I
do not think it is a big amount of money but I hope it can be helpful to any of my schoolmates who need the money desperately”.

They also mentioned that they will not stop helping people after graduating university since they all study in saving people’s lives. Additionally, an official from the Division of Scholarship and Welfare stated “We keep track of students’ benefits through the division so that students may pursue their academic goals, regardless of their financial situation. The Honorary Scholarships Program will not only make the campus warmer, but will also help the students who are most in need”.
