Kyungil University president Jung Hyun-Tae (KIU), held a special lecture on the 25th of September titled ���Knowing Genetically Modified Organisms���, and invited special guest Si-Young Lee, from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

This lecture was aimed at students from the School of Food Science and opened with a introduction about the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Health scientist Si-Young Lee started her lecture with a brief introduction about GM foods that are using biotechnology, explained the developmental status of GMOs, environmental risk assessments, safety evaluations and a labeling system later.

The dean of the School of Food Science Mi-Hyun Kim said, "the Knowledge about labeling and  security management system towards GM foods could be a good stepping stone for the students in becoming competent experts in the field of Food Science and I will make sure to support those students by arranging more special lectures related to food science-related researchers so that the students can gain more expertise.
