Hyun Tae-Jung, the president of Kyungil University, which is one of the leading universities of academy-style training in business establishment, hosted ‘The 2nd Senior Life Redesign Seminar’ in the auditorium of the Chilgok Chamber of Commerce and Industry on October 22nd. The theme of this second annual event was ‘Training Future Creative Professional Senior Restart Project’.

There were about 100 local senior participants at the seminar which was sponsored by Senior Biz Plaza  Center (which KIU is operating in cooperation with Chilgok County), and the seminar has been widely successfully.
This annual seminar is a venue for having in-depth and detailed discussions about the second half of one’s life by planting a sense of challenge and by providing proper education and resources to seniors who will be seeking employment.

The seminar, operating under the title of ‘Finding a Job takes Strategy’, suggested useful tactics for establishing a company and finding a job to senior students through three different lectures. One of these lectures was titled ‘Senior Restart through a Career Fusion’.

One of the participants said, “I have been worried about getting job or starting a new company even  though I am interested, but now I can say that they now seem a lot easier than I thought because the seminar was presented at a level that applies especially to us”.

Lee Sang-Min, the chief section of strategic planning in Chilgok County stated, “We arranged this event to help senior students since they lack information and education compared to other generations”. He continued, “We will continue to support job assistant programs for local seniors”.

Last year, Kyungil University and Chilgok County opened ‘The Senior Biz Plaza’ in May and it is the only such center in the Gyeongbuk region. In 2012, its first year, the plaza received the top grade of “S” in its evaluation and and has continued to get great results in 2013.

Lee Gwang-Gu, the head of BRIDGE (Bring Up Industry by the Development of Great Entrepreneurship) confessed, “We are planning to support these seniors and make use of their skills such as their competitiveness and professional experiences by collaborating with them on several projects that are supported by Senior Biz Plaza business.”
