The KIU Department of Nursing held the Korean standard suicide prevention training program, ‘Seeing, Listening, and Talking’ education program on November 19th, in building 8, room 110 from 1pm until 3pm. The education program is supported by the Ministry of Health & Welfare, SPCKorea, and the Kyungsan Public Health Center.
About 50 nursing majors who have an interest in saving lives, were appointed as Gatekeepers and Professors Yoo So-Yeon also participated in the meaningful event. The Korean standard suicide prevention training program, ‘Seeing, Listening and Talking’ includes within it a whole process of suicide prevention by recognizing high-risk patients though ‘Seeing’, actively listening and feeling a sense of sympathy toward suicide risks by ‘Listening’ and planning a safe route through ‘Talking’.
Nursing school Gatekeepers confessed that they would like to be faithful to their role in decreasing the suicide rate in the community and within our country based on what they have learned from this program. Meanwhile, the Department of Nursing held the ‘Love Life Keeper (Gatekeeper) Appointment Ceremony’ on September 11th. The Gatekeepers will participate in cultural campaigns for caring for life and monitor harmful website related to suicide.. |
