The KIU Volunteer Center and the student body volunteer ‘Distributing briquettes of love’ at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 29th, in Hayang-eup Kyungsan-city.
About 30 KIU students carried and delivered 50 sacks of 20kg rice, 50 boxes of ramyon and 2000 briquettes to help single elderly men and child breadwinners who live in Hayang-eup ahead of the Lunar New Year.
KIU students gathered and delivered rice sacks and ramyon boxes to the Hayang-eup town office at 2 p.m. and immediately they volunteered to deliver briquettes . After delivering briquettes, they visited single elderly men and gave their gifts to them and shared warm-heartedness.
Kim, Kuh-Oh, Tax and Accounting major student of KIU, said, “We prepared to bring cheer to the neighborhood to those who could be lonely ahead of the lunar new year holiday. However, even we were consoled to see them welcome us with such good grace.”
The KIU volunteer center is planning to make a ‘Creative Cooperation Model’ in universities and communities where every KIU staff and on-campus volunteer club joining together starting with this distributing briquettes event.
Meanwhile, the KIU designated ‘Community Volunteer Course’ is a mandatory course for all students obligating them to engage in community volunteer duty. Enrolled students are donating their talents through the KIU volunteer center and on-campus volunteer club actively and every semester. The KIU volunteer center hosts community volunteer exhibition to share their experience. |
