The Korean Center on Problem Gambling recruited prevention activity groups who would play a leading role in decreasing college students’ gambling problems and spreading a sound culture of leasure around campus. Under the supervision of Professor Yoo So-Yeon, 45 students from the nursing department organized ‘G.O.P.-Gambling Over Project Group’ and their challenge was to create a unique activity and use their passion to confront gambling. Finally, they were selected as a 1st grade 2014 College Students’ Gambling Problems Prevention Activity Group.

From now on, the G.O.P. Group from the KIU nursing department will hold publicity events such as campaigns on campus, through SNS, and use college the festival as well as a variety of local festivals with the KIU students’ union, the KIU center for career and guidance counseling, the Kyungsan city office, and the Kyungsan city health center. All of the activities will be officially supported by the Korean Center on Problem Gambling.

Yoo So-Yeon, who supervises the group said, “It is a reality that college students’ awareness is very low about gambling problems and it is vital to inform our students about the riskiness of gambling on campus and get them recognize it and be on alert.” She added, “I hope our G.O.P. group would improve their ability to be better nurses through this activity and grow more like a person who can contribute to local society’s mental health.:
