Female students from the Geo-Informatics Engineering department were finally selected as a ���2014 Female college students Engineering Research Team Project���. The Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning hosts this project and it selects 30 teams throughout the country.

The team consists of masters program student Choi Mi-Kyung from graduate school, Lee Mi-Hee and Lee Si-Eun, who are senior undergraduate students, and Han Ka-Hyung and Lee Jung-Min who are juniors. They are deeply research, predict, and evaluate the regional damage caused from the spread and deposition of Mt. Baekdu���s Ash-for 6 months. Only Kyungil University and Kyungpook University were selected from Daegu and the Kyungpook area from 30 selected teams from over the country and about 6 million won will be given to them as a national scholarship.

The team will simulate Mt. Baekdu���s eruption and predict the ash���s moving path for 6 months, and predict a scale of damaged area so they can use this as an alert system or reaction system.
���The College and Graduate School Female Students��� Engineering Research Team Project��� is supported by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and hosted by the Center for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology��� to foster leadership and high ranking research and development of manpower by supporting their team project.

Geo-Informatics department professor Lee Gwon-Ho said, ���People usually think engineering college is only for male students but female students have their own strengths, so if they can develop these, we could have engineering with great sensitivity in it, so I expect this research could lead to an outstanding outcome.���

Team leader Choi Mi-Kyung from the team said, -���We will demonstrate the strength of KIU engineering college���s woman power all over the country with a remarkable result in 6 months.
