KIU held the ‘Summer Program Ceremony for Global Talents’ at 4PM on June 10th in the auditorium. Over 200 students, accompanied by their respective professors, were in attendance.

Students are set to attend Sheffied University in England, California State University, the University of San Diego in the USA, Centural Philippine University, and the University of San Jose in the Philippines for a minimum of 6 weeks and a maximum of 19 weeks. The International Thematic Experience, which is in its 14th year, is the program that academic major students, club students or department students can apply to whereby students must submit in advance. Students must then go through an interview process, from which about 32 teams were selected and these teams will either visit Asia, Europe, East Asia or the USA. These students will experience a variety of activities.

In addition, 10 students who were selected as superior students for a start-up business will come to visit global businesses, such as ones located in Silicon Valley in the USA, and 10 nursing students will have a chance to practice in the Indianapolis Health North Hospital.

These students were already given their scholarships to attend this overseas program and after they come back to school, they will have another chance to get scholarships as well. If their attendance is 100%, -one million won will be given and also if they raise their TOEIC scores and if they show excellent presentation skills when KIU has a presentation competition.

Jung Ji-Eun, a freshman in the language department, said, “It is great to go abroad during this summer vacation so I am very nervous. As a representative of our school, I will try my best to study and learn a different culture. Also I will try to recieve another scholarship.”

Jung Jae-Won, a dean of Student Affairs, said, “It will be a good opportunity to try to achieve their goals, and I hope every student comes back to school in good health for the fall semester.”
