Professor Kim, Gwan-Jung from the design department of KIU will have a private exhibition from the 21st to 24th of October at Gallery Art in the Susong-gu Beomeo Library.
The definition of ‘Show off’ is to boast or brag. Every designer wants to have an opportunity to show off and brag and make his/her own designs become accepted through several routes.
It is vital to establish his/her own creativity and identity in advance in order to show off his/her designs successfully. Without having his/her own distinguishable design and originality, it is almost impossible to be a designer in the 21st century.
Customers recognize who designed a certain product right away without seeing brands’ logos and trademarks once a certain designer establishes his/her creativity and identity. That is to say, ‘showing off’ means that high quality brands usually don’t show or reveal their logos or trademarks on purpose, and customers recognize the brands without checking logos or trademarks.
Finally, ‘showing off’ is a newly made design oriented word which has the opposite meanings to boasting or bragging, but also includes concealing and dematerializing all at the same time. Through this exhibition, designer Kim, Gwan-Jung will show off his representative designs.
He is now completing the final design output of ‘showing off’ which will be able to identify with the designer Kim, Gwan-Jung’s work based on his own creativity and identity which melted into his works without showing off the designer’s logo or trademark. |
