The GO-FIRST project center, which is the only CK-1 project center in the field of Fire Protection Systems, is a target-oriented center for fostering fire safety personnel in the department of Fire Safety of KIU. On the 4th November, the GO-FIRST project center conducted a visiting program to learn new technology of fire protection.

The goal was to strengthen the ability���s of KIU fire protection technology students and they visited the Korea Fire Institute in Yongin, Kyunggi-province. Eighty students attended and all expenses were supported by the GO-FIRST project team.

The Korea Fire Institute was founded with the aim of promoting the development of technology, researching policies, and testing and inspecting this firefighting equipment as a public institution.

During the visit, students experienced testing and went through the inspection process to certify performances and type approval of firefighting appliances first hand. Specially, it served as momentum to improve the practical ability and experience new technology of fire protection through experiencing the operation process of experimental equipment that can show the risk of fire quantitatively. Students were able to experience the use of technology such as the Cone Calorimeter and Large Scale Calorimeter, which are operated in the Korea Fire Institute.

The department of Fire Safety is supported by a variety of national projects, such as LINC and CK-1 projects. This visit became an important opportunity to set their goals and improve their practical work abilities after experiencing the trend in the field and fire protection technology.
