Freshmen are pledging in the entrance ceremony.

President Chung, Hyun-Tae is explaining to the parents about school policies, scholarships, and dormitory lifestyle.

"Thanks for having us at this celebration for students who passed the entrance exam. By the way, my daughter has become a freshman in the department of Renewable Energy. Even though she is an engineering student, the importance of English is very vital for her, so I am very curious about how well KIU teaches English to students and overall language ability improvement."

After the 30 minute entrance ceremony which was held in the KIU gymnasium at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, freshmen left for the orientation of each department they belong to. About a thousand parents were left with the president and school staff. President Chung distributed " the celebration rice cakes" and bottles of water to the parents and exchanged greetings. Then he started by having a meeting with the parents right away.

"We have 25 foreign teachers and 90 minute compulsory English conversation classes for freshman. Also, it is required they take a TOEIC test or submit an English ability test score for getting a scholarship. "Every vacation, we are sending students to England to learn English", said President Chung.

During the meeting parents were asking many questions about KIU because their sons and daughters will experience dormitory lifestyle, scholarships, language learning programs and the shuttle bus. There were many questions followed by answers, so at 1:30 p.m. the meeting finished. This was one hour more than expected.

During the entrance ceremony, in which 2,170 students attended, President Chung stated, "KIU greatly welcomes you here from the bottom of my heart." and "We will work to meet our students and the parents expectations for bringing up talents like a ��-shaped individual in at least two fields of expertise.
