Kyungil University’s College of IT Convergence and Integration is pleased to welcome Mwawi Mary Nyirenda, Kambombo Mtonga, and Thokozani Vallent to the Computer Engineering Master and Doctorate degree programs.

All three hail from Malawi, Africa, and graduated from Malawi National University’s Mathematics Education department with honors.  They will join a team that is working on a project to develop a security framework for portable devices operating according to a cognitive

wireless standard.  Their two-year fellowships are to be funded by The National Research Foundation of Korea.

Mtonga said of his opportunity to join Kyungil, “I was interested in studying Information Technology in Korea, of course, and I had heard that there were many outstanding professors in Cyber Security, Computer Engineering, and Cryptography at Kyungil.”  Nyirenda, the married mother of a 6-month-old baby, said that she could not miss the opportunity to study Information Technology in Korea, despite the longing she feels for her baby, and that she plans to complete the doctorate degree program.  Vallent plans to return to Malawi to work in the IT industry after completing his graduate degree at Kyungil University.

Professor Kim Hyung Sung of the Computer Engineering department said, and Professor Yoon Eun Joon of Cyber Security concurred, “They are enthusiastic about studying in Korea, so we want to encourage them to learn as much as possible.”
