‘Tears of India’, a 3 person team from the department of photography, plans to produce a documentary about experiences in the slums of India. The team submitted their application and received a high score at KIU.

Students from the department of social welfare plan on visiting Singapore and documenting the effects of non-smoking and welfare policies on multicultural families. The part of the expense of this experience will be funded by KIU.

On December 6th at 3 PM, in its auditorium, KIU held its annual ‘Winter Program Ceremony for Global Talents’, which is one of the largest in the country.

Over 100 KIU students, accompanied by their respective professors, are set to attend Sheffield University in England, Arizona State University and CPU in the Philippines for either a 4 or 8 week program beginning December 29th.

The International Thematic Experience is a program that academic major students can apply to whereby students must submit their program application in advance. Students must then go through an interview process, from which about 28 teams will be selected and the selected teams will either visit Asia, Europe or the USA. In addition, three other countries will soon become a part of the volunteer and exchange program.

KIU student Lee Sang Hoon, a business English major, said, “Last year’s overseas language training was the most rewarding experience of my life and that experience helped my confidence a lot. However, this year I applied for the one in the USA. I hope that every exchange student experiences various cultures throughout the world and comes back safely.”

President Chung Hyun Tae stated, “Young people, specifically the KIU students enrolled in the exchange program, have to possess an open, global mindset so that they can share their experiences and set a positive example for KIU students on campus as soon as they come back.”
