KIU mascots with exceptional talent and beauty take responsibility for promoting KIU.
On April 5th, KIU held a certificate of appointment ceremony for the 8TH KIUMI and 2nd KIUMION who are KIU student ambassadors in the library seminar room. At the ceremony, KIU student ambassadors were strengthening their will to dedicate themselves to KIU and the local community as full-fledged ambassadors.
‘KIUMI’, the name of KIU student ambassadors, is a compound word consisting of KIU, using Kyungil’s university initials, and ‘MI’, which means ‘beautiful’ in Chinese. The name ‘KIUMI’ represents KIU students who are beautiful both inside and out. Since last year, KIU has respectively selected ‘KIUMI’ and ‘KIUMION’, depending on the tasks they take on as KIU ambassadors. ‘KIUMI’ is responsible for helping university ceremonies and promotes campaigns that are held in and outside of the school as well. In addition, they will act as models for school promotional brochures and videos. On the other hand, ‘KIUMION’ is in charge of promoting the university online, making use of Social Network Services (SNS) and portal sites.
It has been 8 years since KIU student ambassadors took on their duty. Last march, four KIUMI and thirty-three KIUMION passed the procedures of recruitment and were selected. Passing the procedures was very competitive, with only one of out of every 16 being selected.
KIU student ambassadors that are selected every year are popular amongst students because the school provides a variety of benefits such as a scholarship and activity expenses. Furthermore, as more and more companies recognize the student ambassadors’ great contributions and volunteer service to organizations they belong to, being an ambassador has been helpful in getting a job.
Kim Gyu-A (21, Department of Emergency Medical Technology) who was selected as the 8th KIUMI, declared her intentions as a student ambassador by saying, “Not until I was awarded an appointment certificate, did I realize that I am a KIUMI.” She added that, “I feel a huge responsibility for representing my university at various events and ceremonies with uniforms on. But, I will make an effort to try to do my best because I totally understand how many friends want to be KIU student ambassadors.” |
