Deeply impressed by KIU school bus driver’s kindness and warm greetings
Kyungil University, whose president is Jeong Hyeon-Tae, gave a testimonial to a kind KIU school bus driver in a meeting room of the university main building on Monday, April 25th.
Last week when students took their mid-term exams, many students complimented the kind school driver on the school bulletin board. After asking all around, the university headquarters found out that he is Song Jeong Yeol, who is a 70 years old school bus driver running the no.12 school bus between the university and the downtown of Daegu.
While operating the KIU school bus, Mr. Song exchanged warm greetings with students one by one until all of them got off the bus. Furthermore, students were deeply impressed and touched when Mr. Song helped students who needed special help to get on and off the bus safely with kindness.
Park Jae-Wan, a freshman majoring in the Department of Fire Safety takes the school bus every day, and was the first person who wrote about Mr.Song’s performing the good deed. Park said, “At the beginning of the semester, I felt a bit uncomfortable when the bus driver saw students off by standing out of the bus because he was a man well advanced in years. But it was great to start a day with excitement, saying ‘Have a good day’ and smiling at each other. When I was taking the mid-term, he said, ‘Please, take care of yourself. Your health should be your first concern.’ I was so thankful to him that I wrote about him on the school online bulletin board.”
Mr. Song made the statement, saying that, “It is my great honor to receive a letter of appreciation and a gift. I feel so thankful for the students’ concern.” He added, “I will understand this appreciation letter as a meaning of encouraging my continuous dedication to students. I will keep trying my best to drive safely.” |
