The campus has been newly renovated as an eco-friendly cultural space, with the intention of holding various cultural events.

With the goal  of building a sensitive campus rich in culture through events and projects, KIU (President Hyeon Tae Jeong) is going to hold various cultural events  this May, naming its main gate and square as 'The Culture Grounds'. Just before starting this project, KIU had already built its campus eco-friendly Cultural Space and has been made ready to be the place where students and local people can often pay a visit.

Beginning this month, there will be a 'KIU Cultural Grounds Festival' in the outdoor auditorium every week. And any local residents and university members can participate in concerts and cultural activities. KIU plans to attract participants and audiences through supporting funds for clubs and snack events.

Ye Joo Jin (Department of Beauty) from the KIU dance club 'Story', attended an opening performance last May 4th and said "I have missed a chance to perform with my club members. But now we have a stage to dance and it's so exciting"

In front of the Culture Grounds, you can see the 'KIUM Market' which opened last March. It sells and displays creative items from students who major in design. In addition, it donates part of its profits to scholarships. The 'Idea Factory Project' managed by the Ministry of Trade, offers a showroom to KIUM Market and it attracts 50 items on display now.

Also, KIU has opened a walking trail that leads to the left side of the main gate through the main building for local people. This walking trail is long enough for people to take a walk and has become a popular picnic spot for the local kindergarten students. Additionally, it has been surprisingly popular with students and residents for relaxation.

Renovations for the square in front of the main library just finished before March and has been loved by many students both for relaxation and as a meeting area. By removing bricks around the flower garden and constructing the square, KIU is expected to use this area for numerous cultural events. As for the improvement of the educational environment projects, KIU recently changed the lampposts, allowing students to enjoy the beautiful night view.
