‘KISS (Kyungil Information Security Society, directed by Prof. Ki Hyun Jung),’ a club in the department of Cyber Security at Kyungil University (President Hyun Tae Chung), has been recently selected for the ‘2016 Supporting Project for Korea University Clubs of Information Security (KUCIS)’ invited by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning and Korean Information & Security Agency.

In the selection evaluation of this supporting project ‘KISS’,a club in the Department of Cyber Security at Kyungil University, received high marks for excellent teamwork, strengthening competence, and under the close supervision of Prof. Ki Hyun Jung, engaged in advanced learning by way of mock hacking and listened toseminars on information security. The club was also recognized for an excellence award for a paper presented at the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers Conference. ‘KISS’ is going to hold educational programs and seminars on information security and participate in overseas conferences and talent donation activities.

The Supporting Project for Korea University Clubs of information Security has been carried out since 2006 by the Korean Information & Security Agency in order to train information security experts who have technical skills and ethics. Clubs selected for this project are offered equipment, books and software and are also invited to attend guest lectures given by specialists and liberal education programs. In addition, members of selected clubs can apply to perform military duties as specialty personnel, such as data protection soldiers and conscripted cyber policemen, so many departments and clubs across the country compete for the project.

Last December, four teams from the Department of Cyber Security at Kyungil University participated in the ‘2015 IT Job Innovation Contest of Daegu and Gyeongbuk’, hosted by the Daegu Metropolitan City Hall,the Province of Gyeongsangbuk-do and the Small and Medium Business Administration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk. All of them won an award, such as the grand prize, excellence prize and participation prize, sweeping the contest.
