The only 4-year university to be chosen for the second consecutive year, creating a small business-university win-win collaboration model.
KIU(President Jung Hyun Tae) was chosen as the leading institution this year for the second consecutive year in the ‘2016 industry-university’s customized technical human resource development business index’ sponsored by the Small and Medium Business Administration. It means that KIU is the only 4-year university to be acknowledged for conducting its business for the second consecutive year.
Industry-university’s customized technical human resource development business aims to solve manpower problems of small businesses and to promote employment by developing skilled manpower. It aims to help out the small business field by hiring the manpower and in participation with businesses through joint education. Meanwhile KIU will continue to perform excellent industry-university collaborations and make connections with the associations∙organizations related to small businesses or individual small businesses.
With this selection of business, KIU is expected to kill two birds with one stone to solve the problems of manpower and employment, through making an agreement with 31 prominent local companies such as: HanJung NCS, SeokMun Electric engineering, and Ilji Tech. Furthermore, it will continue to engage in courses like field placement, whereby 1 team- 1 project, and customized education where 30 students in 3 departments (mechanical and automotive engineering, electronic engineering, and applied robotics) are participating. Last year, the average employment rate of the participating students in these 3 departments reached 77% and it was a significant achievement.
KIU will have proceeded the customized education for working-level required in the business field, besides the regular classes for 200 hours by next February with the financial support of about 200 million won with the selection of business for the second consecutive year. While the relevant companies proceed the field placement for 4 weeks and 1 team -1 project with the tasks the companies require, the students become the skilled manpower the small businesses want. Moreover, 10% of participating students are expected to enter into the master’s course in the department with the small business after completing business.
President Jung Hyun Tae said “KIU achieved recognition for its excellence in industry-university collaboration system by being chosen as the business which supplies customized industry-university collaboration and skilled technical manpower to small businesses” and “KIU will serve as a model in industry-university collaboration with win-win scenarios between the university and businesses through fruitful business performance this year.” |
