On Thursday, June 9th,Kyungil University (President Hyun Tae Chung) held the ‘2016 Summer Launching Ceremony for the Global Human Resource Development Project’ in the library auditorium and is going to send about three hundred students abroad, to places such as North America and Europe. This summer, the selected students will participate in the overseas program, including; language training and experience programs involving their majors.

Kyungil University has carried out various programs to foster global human resources. Last year, the university sent about eight hundred students abroad, more than ten percent of the entire student population. Of the students involved in this launching ceremony, about one hundred and fifty students, out of three hundred going abroad, will go to the United States, the UK, and Canada and stay there from four weeks to eighteen weeks while taking major classes and going through field training and language training.

Another one hundred fifty students will join the overseas experience program involving their majors, in which the students themselves find their major-related subjects, are organized into groups of three to five. The purpose for the overseas experience program of the selected teams varies depending on their majors. For example, the “Sportsmen” team from the department of sports hopes to submit a proposal to the Daegu Baseball Park after learning about the management of baseball stadiums and conducting market research in the United States, where Major Leagues are held. The “London Keane Donut” team from the school of photography and motion picture is planning to post on SNS live news in real time while touring Europe.

President Hyun Tae Chung said, “We offer students additional support according to their family income so that they do not give up language training because of its cost. They will also be able to receive scholarships even after completing their language training, depending on how much they improve their language scores. Chung added, “We will educate them to become global citizens and keep challenging them by providing opportunities for language training and various overseas experience programs.
