Kyungil University President (Hyun Tae Chung) awarded an honorary doctorate degree in administration to Byeong Yun Jeong, who is a vice governor for the Daegu-Kyungbuk economy in a seminar room in the Humanity Building on June 22nd.

The vice governor has been credited for his effort on improving local universities, with having worked on blueprints for new industrial projects in Kyungbuk, and offered 30,000 new jobs through a project called ‘Rapid Progress and Improvement’.

He entered the office by passing the administration examinations, and has had many different careers, such as: section head for the local administration in Kyungbuk, the director of the Economy and Science Promotion Center, the director of supporting administration, the director of council, and the deputy mayor of Gyeongsan and Pohang. As a local, specialized administrator, he has taken the lead in welfare and local developments for citizens by being a field-focused-administration over the last 30 years.  

Since his inauguration last November, he has contributed to the public, to the economy and has been focused on his achievements. These include 2 major local strategic industries, 7 major smart complex industries, establishing nurturing strategies, the expansion of employment and jobs for young men, making common people economically stable, and accelerating radiation industries.

“Well cultivated crops are hardly pulled out, well wrapped things are hardly uncovered”, from Lao-tzu’s Ta TeChing.  KIU presiden, Hyun Tae Chung, introduced the vice governor’s belief to others and added KIU’s goal of seeking students’ happiness and Kyungbuk seeking citizens’ happiness has the common goal of pursuing people’s happiness.

The governor Jeong said “3 million citizens gave me an honorary degree for doing better.” and added, “I’ll do my best to develop Kyungbuk with leadership and focus on our citizens’ abilities.”
