KIU design major students’ work was favorably received at the 'Maison & Object' in Paris and has received worldwide offers for their work.

KIU(President, Jung Hyun Tae) students' work has won high praise at the world famous art exhibition 'Maison & Object' and has received many offers from buyers from all around the world.

Woo Jin Woo (sophomore) and Lee Hong Chul (senior), both design majors, sent their artwork ‘UMBRELLIP’ and ‘OCTOPUS' to the world famous interior exhibition ‘Maison & Objet 2016’ in Paris last September. The artworks were an umbrella-like clip and a laptop accessory.

‘UMBRELLIP’, which looks like an umbrella and can be used to organize files like a clip, received offers from a renowned German design company. And ‘OCTOPUS', is an accessory that can prevent over-heating while using laptops and it also received orders from the U. S. A, France, Netherlands and Italy.

Professor Kim Dae Sung(design department) who supervised the participation in the exhibition said " we have taught not only how to create products but also how to cast a factory and decide prices". He added, " we were very happy to have an outstanding result even though we were just intending to practice negotiating overseas buyers for the project 'LINC' project, which is supported by the Education Ministry.

Speaking of ‘Maison & Objet', this exhibition is the biggest interior design exhibition in Europe and has expanded its exhibition area since 1995. Also, it has attained fame in home decoration, home design, accessories, furniture, kids and textile. Only a limited number of designers who have well-made and mass production systems can submit work.

The KIU design department has fostered trendy and skilled designers who can even start their own business and sell items at famous designer shops in Seoul.
