On October 27 (Thursday), Kyungil University (President Hyun Tae Chung) invited promising medium-sized and small-but-strong enterprises from this region and held the  ‘2016 Kyungil University Job Fair with a College Recruit Tour’ at the All-purpose Gymnasium and in the Library Auditorium. The purpose was to provide accurate information about companies and their hiring plans to job applicants and help them find a job suitable for them.

Held in association with the ‘2016 Daegu College Recruit Tour’, this job fair was prepared by Kyungil LINC Business, the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute of High-tech Venture Company of the Federation. Particularly, with about 70 companies in attendance, their related organizations, and approximately 2000 job applicants, it was the largest College Recruit Tour held by the seven four-year universities in Daegu, making the grand finale of this year’s College Recruit Tour.

The Business Recruit Management Division stationed at the All-purpose Gymnasium offered about 60 booths from companies, including: Daegu Bank, Kyung Chang Industrial Corporation, SamickTHK, Ajin Industrial Co. LTD, the Korea Appraisal Board, the Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation, and they gave hiring information for students and held interviews. Also, other organizations, such as Daegu One-stop Job Center, the  Daegu Employment Center, the Daegu Creative Economic Innovation Center, and the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Institute of High-tech Venture Company of the Federation set up their booths and informed those in attendance about their labor policy and hiring information.

As for other accompanying events, K-TEST, managed by the Daegu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was conducted in the Library Auditorium in the morning. In the afternoon, a head of the personnel department from a company gave a talk on finding a job, and a talk concert with graduates was held, which received good responses from the participants. During the concert they showed much interest by taking memos from the conversations with their senior mentors who work at top companies and asking many questions.

Han Jeong-jin from the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering, who participated in the fair, says, “I had an opportunity to learn about regional companies and to have a practical experience through an interview with a representative from the personnel department from a company.” Also, Son Min-seop from the Department of Electronic Engineering, expressed with high hopes, “It was a good opportunity to have interviews at 5 booths after learning about how to write a resume and cover letter at the Career Center.

Jeom-chan Lee, the dean of the Career Center at Kyungil University, states, “This job fair provided an opportunity for upcoming graduates to find a job at promising regional companies and for freshmen and sophomores to learn about what is needed to prepare for successful employment.
