The start-up business support team at Kyungil University (team manager Kang HyungGu), held the start-up business camp for patent applications at STX resort from November 25th(Friday)throughNovember26th(Saturday).

36 students participated in this camp in order to experience the process of the creative idea’s rebirth into patented, intellectual property.

A variety of programs made in-depth progress, such as deriving the creative idea for solving a problem, understanding the patent application system, conducting prior art searches, figuring out how to create patent specifications, and understanding the electronic application system. At last, 36 were issued patents.

Kang HyungGu, manager of the start-up business support team at Kyungil University, said “by learning how to specify the students’ ideas and make them into non-visible property like intellectual property, and by practically and individually applying for patents, the educative effect has been enhanced.” Moreover, he said “in December, based on the intellectual property which was granted an official patent, the program for development and commercialization in a business model will be operated.”

Kyungil University was selected as a leading university for start-up business, conducted by the Small and Medium Business Administration, in 2011. After it was ranked No.1 in the country regarding the proportion of graduates’ start-up businesses, according to the assessment by Joongang Newspaper in October this year, Kyungil University was nominated as an excellent university for start-up business education in 2016 and received a commendation by the minister of education. It means that Kyungil University has become a representative in creating the environment for local start-up business and spreading the start-up business culture.
