According to the industry evaluation in terms of university curriculum and industry requirements, Kyungil University is the highest ranked university in three areas - mechanics, automotives, and architecture, with the field of automotives receiving the highest grade.

Kyungil University (President Chung, Hyun-Tae) received the highest ratings in three areas – mechanics, automobile, and architecture, according to the university evaluation from the viewpoint of industry.

On April 18th, the Ministry of Education and the Korean Council for University Education announced the results of the ‘2016 University Evaluation From an Industrial Viewpoint’. The Ministry of Education has conducted the university evaluation since 2008 in collaboration with five corporate groups, such as the Korea Employers Federation (KEF) in order to assess how well the university curriculum is in line with industry needs.

This year, they evaluated five related departments, such as: architecture, civil engineering, mechanics, automobile, and shipbuilding and marine engineering. Kyungil University was selected as the best university in the areas of architecture, mechanics, and automobile. As many as 67 universities and 166 departments participated in the evaluation.

In particular, the automotive field of Kyungil University was selected as the best practice case and thus it will be introduced at the results presentation seminar which will be held at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 2 P.M. on February 19th. Kyungil University was ranked as the top university with a high score, as it offers students more than 21 credits in the curriculum that fosters professional human resources specializing in IT converged auto parts industry, such as smart cars. At the presentation seminar, 5 universities including Kyonggi University, Kwangwoon University, Hanbat National University, Changwon University, and Dongshin University will present their cases and will be awarded the certification plaques as well.

The five economic groups plan to notify their member companies of the best universities in their respective areas and also to encourage them to provide employment incentives for their graduates.

“With Kyungil University being selected for the ‘Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation’ (LINC) Project, it is another remarkable achievement,” President Chung said, adding that we would acknowledge this outstanding outcome with a much closer working relationship between industry and the university, in that Kyungil University was recognized as the leading university in consistently developing the industry-university collaboration into the primary focus of the ‘University for Creative Korea’ (CK) project.

Managers and employees from 30 companies, which include Samsung Construction & Trading Corporation, Kunhwa Engineering & Consulting, FM Solution Co., Ltd., Hyundai Motor Group, and Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, participated in the evaluation, with 2991 companies partaking in the survey. The evaluation was conducted in three areas: curriculum design (30%), curriculum management (50%), and curriculum performance (20%). The evaluation, which was taken care of by specialized agencies, was based upon the survey results. The evaluation survey of the curriculum management was conducted among related graduates and students, while that of the employee’s job performance was done by the departmental heads.
