Kyungil University (President, Hyun Tae Chung) was finally chosen for the ‘2017 College Lifelong Education System-Sponsored Project’ supervised by the Ministry of Education and the National Institute for Lifelong Education.

Kyungil University (KIU) was chosen among universities in Daegu and Kyungbuk regions as the only college for the ‘College Lifelong Education System-Sponsored Project’, in which the government is pushing forward with merging the existing lifelong education projects in order to promote national lifelong education in 2017. The selection enables KIU to operate degree/non-degree programs for a year with public works expenditure and with 占�1.5 billion of support provided by the government.

KIU has established plans for upgrading its lifelong education system in the 2017 calendar year by building on the basis of successful experiences of lifelong learning oriented university in 2016.

KIU will operate degree courses focused on fields that could lead the 4th industrial revolution, with goals of upgrading lifelong education that re-consider the recovery of innovation competitiveness in industries of Daegu and Kyungbuk regions, and the aboriginal life values. They set up three majors (Smart Automobile Convergence, Smart Administration System, Nuclear Energy Convergence) and two departments by contracted signs (Industry System Management, Industry Administration) in the college of Convergence Industry Technology.

In addition to these degree programs, KIU is operating innovative education programs as non-degree programs toward 5 regional future industries - <Course for experts in smart plants>, <Course for experts in big data analysis>, <Education of innovating business administration>, <Course for strengthening workers’ negotiation ability>, and <Course for reinforcing presentation ability>. These would be a sample for excellent lifelong education from the industry perspective, by maintaining the same quality as the degree programs.

The president of KIU, Hyun Tae Chung mentioned that the university is going to primarily operate student-centered education to make learners happy and expressed his ambition that “KIU will become a new prestigious university for lifelong education through organic cooperative relationships with regional industries.”
