Three-year government support to Future automobile, New social safety infrastructure, and Convergence and Integration content.

Kyungil University (President Jeong Hyun-tae) was selected as the consistently supported university by the Ministry of Education's "Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation" (LINC+ business) and will receive the government support until 2021. Ministry of Education has promoted the university-industry cooperation between universities and enterprises by investing 253.2 billion won of government’s coffer. The Ministry of Education and the Korea Research Foundation released the results of the first evaluation of the LINC+ business on Wednesday. The evaluation was targeted at 75 universities that had already done LINC+ business. The first evaluation had been conducted and the top 80% of the 61 universities was selected first. The project expenses will continue to be provided for the next three years (2019-2021).

Kyungil University set up three major fields of specialization : Future Automobile Components, New Social Safety Infrastructure, and Convergence and Integration content. It plans to complete the industry-university innovation system, nurture salient local talents in the industrial-friendly areas, and create value for local industry-academia cooperation. Kyungil University plans to do its best to achieve those business goals. Kim Hyun-woo, director of the LINC + project team, said, "Since the foundation, we have continuously recognized local workplace-based practical training and have been recognized for creating value for industry-academia cooperation that coexists with local communities.“

The president Jeong Hyun-tae said, "By the selection of LINC+, we will accelerate the training of 'smart talents' that will lead the fourth industrial revolution on the foundation of industry-university cooperation.“

The LINC+ project is one of the core businesses of the Ministry of Education to promote the development and promotion of various industry-university cooperation models based on university conditions and characteristics and encourage mutual growth between universities and local communities. In 2012, LINC was launched as a five-year ‘Leaders in Industry-University Cooperation’ (LINC) project, which led to the LINC + business in 2017. Kyungil University was selected as the excellent university of LINC business for the second consecutive year.

In particular, this evaluation is expected to be a watershed for the LINC + project because the lower 20% of the universities will be eliminated from the evaluation phase and the comparative evaluation will be conducted for the eliminated universities and new hopeful universities in April.
