Kyungil University (President Jung, Hyun-Tae) announced on the 10th that it received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for '2019 Safety Industry Development Commendation' at the ‘5th Korea Safety Industry Expo’.

The 'Safety Industry Promotion Award' hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is a commendation to identify and award outstanding companies, organizations, and individuals who have contributed to the development of safety technology, product development and distribution, and the vitalization of the safety industry. The main criteria for evaluation of the commendation includes the levels of the contribution of national development and the improvement of people's lives, public period, difficulty, reputation, awareness, degree of strengthening of business competitiveness, and compliance with government policy. Based upon those criteria, the award is given by the Minister of the Interior and Safety.

Since 2014, Kyungil University has selected safety fields as specializing fields, operating various safety-related departments (Department of Fire Safety, Department of Emergency Medical Technology, etc.) and has been recognized for its contribution to the training of excellent firefighters by promoting not only undergraduate education, but also industry worker training and firefighting official training.

In particular, it has led the industry-academia cooperation and it has also contributed to the spread of safety culture through special disaster site emergency response technology development project, technical and human exchange with The National Fire Fighting University of Russia, BLS-TS/KALS curriculum, disaster relief professional training agency, and the nation's only fire safety personnel training specialization project.

President Jung, Hyun-Tae stated his feelings about having received the award by saying, "With this award, we will establish ourselves as a leading university for the construction of a safe Republic of Korea and further develop the field of fire safety."
