Proving the excellence on the infrastructure for nursing education & Showing a high level of students’ satisfaction with education
Kyungil University (President, Hyun Tae Chung) announced that the department of nursing acquired a five-year accreditation from ‘Accreditation Evaluation of Nursing Education in the second half of 2019’.
Accreditation Evaluation of Nursing Education is the system that Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education commissioned by the Ministry of Education officially checks and recognizes whether educational outcomes, curriculum, the condition of education, and etc. meet the requirements of nation, society, and nursing profession or not.
The department of nursing once again acquired a five-year accreditation on the undergraduate degree program in nursing from this evaluation following the one in 2014. The accreditation is valid from June 11th, 2020 to June 10th, 2025. The evaluation was conducted on the document evaluation and on-site evaluation for 6 areas, 14 categories, and 28 items including vision, operation system, curriculum, students, faculty, facilities and equipment, educational outcomes and so forth.
Hyeon Sook Park (Dean of the department of nursing) said “This achievement is the results of continuous efforts by the department for the operation and management of systematic curriculum and active support from the university for improvement of educational environment. We will continue to strive to nurture professional nursing personnel required at domestic and overseas healthcare sites.”
In order to cultivate professional nursing personnel at international level, the department of nursing has been using the systematic outcome-based curriculum and improving the curriculum periodically. In addition, it is focusing on developing core competencies of professional nurses through practical training at the clinical nursing simulation center, KALS(Korean Advanced Life Support) programs, nursing intensive training programs in overseas universities and hospitals and various extracurricular activities.
The department of nursing at KIU boasts a high level of students’ satisfaction with education, 100 percent pass rate on national examination for nursing licensure, and high employment rate in leading hospitals. |
