Have Been Selected at the US Spark Awards.
Three teams of the students of the Department of Digital Media Design at Kyungil University (President Jung, Hyun-Tae) received the honor of winning at the “2020 Spark Awards,” an international design competition.
Along with US IDEA, Germany Red Dot, and Germany iF, the Spark Awards hosted by the United States is an international design competition with credibility to objectively verify the skills of professional designers and design majors. The three teams of the Department of Digital Media Design (Supervisor, Ahn, Ji-Seon), which won the prize in this competition, proposed OWOL, SAVA, and SIGNAL apps, respectively, under the theme of design for solving social problems in 'Capstone Design' classes.
Students Park, Hyun-Ah (team leader) and Kwak, Eun-Hye investigated the situation in Korea, where child abuse is a serious social problem as compared to that of developed countries. And then they proposed an OWOL app in order to provide parental education for healthy child growth and child abuse prevention services for the enhancement of parent-child bonds.
Students Kim, Jeong-Yeon (team leader), Gong, Min-Jeong and Kim, Ye-Ji suggested measures against dating violence, reporting procedures, and services provided by related organizations and communities through the SAVA app. Students Suh, Jeong-Yoon (team leader), Kim, Na-Yeon, Kim, Won-Kyun analyzed the problem of the existing apps in regard to the companion animals and then proposed a SIGNAL app that provides information on animal behaviors and calming signals based on companion animal behaviors.
Student Park, Hyun-Ah said, "While preparing for this competition, I had a valuable experience, having an opportunity to think about what we can do with the theme of design for solving social problems." She also said, "I will continually study and make an effort to be a designer.“
