- Remarkable ideas in inventing sanitary lens cover for fingers use and aromatic calender -

The four Kyungil University students (president, Hyun-Tae Jung) got awarded in ‘2020 Korea International Women Inventors Contest’ in which Korea Women Inventors Association and Korea Invention Promotion Association supervised it.

The International Women Inventors Contest was held in Kintex, Ilsan on Oct. 23(Friday) to Oct. 24(Saturday), where about 330 items have been exhibited. Four Kyungil University students participated in the contest and won four silver prizes and one special award, and it turned out that they have been supported with Kyungil University LINC+ Project team.

‘Sanitary lens cover for fingers’ Hyun Joo Han(senior majoring in Robot Engineering) developed is a product in which we can cover our fingers with sanitary cover applied with hypertonic solution when we put on and take out eye lens, so that the cornea would not be damaged due to lens’ contamination and sharp finger nails. On top of the silver prize, this idea was recognized practical so got awarded the special prize(The Award of Myongji University).

‘Aromatic calendar’ developed by Jeong Yeon Kim(Senior, Department of Visual/Industry Design) also got awarded the special prize(The Award of Sookmyung Women’s University) as well as the silver prize. It is designed to have a piece of paper to be replaced every month, and aroma liquid is absolved onto the paper which changes in color over time and functions as a diffuser, so gives a visual effect.

In addition, ‘Self-Dyeing Brush Stand’ Eun Jin Kim(Senior, Department of Beauty Care) invented and ‘Cleansing Mask Pack’ devised by Mee Ju Seo(Senior, Department of Fashion Design) won the silver prizes as well. Ms. Kim’s idea originated from the effectiveness of self dyeing, in which two dyeing brushes are facing each other so that tangled hair is easily loosen and hair dye is evenly infiltrated.

Kyungil University LINC+ Project has constantly held the patent celebrity camp that undergraduate students can attend. The project has associated the students’ practical ideas discovered with patents, so it has applied for about 80 patent cases so far. The four students who got awarded in this contest had been chosen excellent applicants for the patent. This is a motivation in which they participated in the International Women Inventors Contest.

The head of center, Hyun Woo Kim said “This contest, while confronting with Corona 19, had a lot of businesses that hold more various and good works than before, and also proved the achievement in quality by means of the students’ awards regarding patent applications.” He also mentioned “He will make a strong support in securing students’ intellectual property through a variety of follow-up programs.”
