All the prize money of 3 million won will be donated to the Community Chest of Korea

Four students from Kyungil University (President Chung Hyun-tae) Department of Mechanical and Automotive Studies recently won the best prize (President of the Korea Institute of Machinery) at the 12th University Student Crafts and Machinery Idea Contest. Along with the certificate, the entire 3 million won in prize money received by the students was donated to the Community Chest of Korea, adding to the warmth.

Since 2009, the competition for science and engineering college students nationwide has been hosted by the Korea Machinery Industry Association and sponsored by seven public organizations, including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Korea Institute of Machinery and Technology. Using the mentor-mentee (industry-university) system, the final winning team will be selected after a five-month process to refine students' ideas to actually apply on-site. This year, 20 teams from 16 universities participated in and the final seven teams won.

Kyungil University, “don't get mad!!! My Love Machine" team (Yoo Jae-wook, Baek Soon-won, Noh Eun-sang, Cho Young-joo, and professor Lee Kwang-il) selected the theme of 'Development of Artificial Intelligent Cooling Module for Active Control of Cutting Oil to Prevent Thermal Deformation' and carried out the project over the past five months.

Students visited Hyundai Wia located in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, to find ways to apply the cooling module to the site, and held meetings with mentors to develop their ideas. The artificial intelligent cooling module measures the temperature of the cutting process in real time and intelligently supplies cutting oil to the high temperature part to prevent thermal deformation of the machine tool. In particular, it was highly evaluated that it developed a small cooling module that is easy to attach to the inside of the machine with the application of domestic production machine tools in mind.

They also all 3 million won the prize money be donated to the Community Chest of Korea, divided by donations and social development of the joy of the prime minister, he said, " Why can contribute more rewarding.I feel, said.

They also said, "It is more rewarding to share the joy of winning the award with donations and contribute to social development.“

Professor Lee Kwang-il said that he is grateful to the students who participated passionately in the contest despite the difficult situation with Corona 19. and hopes this experience will pave the way for students to grow into competent engineers who can contribute to the development of society.

Kyungil University's Department of Mechanical and Automotive Engineers is recognized as the cradle of fostering professional engineering for outstanding achievements such as winning the Korea Automobile Safety Association's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Award, the 4th Industrial Revolution Competition, and the bronze prize in the Professional Engineering Software Competition.
