-KIU students from the Department of Railway were accepted by railroad companies and became train engineers;

KIU (President Jeong Hyun-tae) has produced a large number of successful candidates for the Automatic Train Driver License Examination for the 1st Half of 2017 and the number of successful applicants for public transportation companies. A total of 14 students, graduates from February of 2016 to seniors, successfully got a job. Some of these jobs were with the Seoul Metro, Yongin Light Rail, New Zealand Railroad, and Daegu Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation. On top of that, in the first half of 2017, eight successful candidates passed the electric rail driver's license test. If KIU includes students currently preparing for tests for the second half of the year, the largest number of students is expected to pass the driver's license test this year. The Department of Railway, having achieved the highest performance, is willing to provide support for students to achieve satisfactory results.

During this 2017 summer vacation, eight students from the railway department are attending training sessions in the special train institution that is licensed to receive permission from the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs. Students majoring in trains can be admitted by taking five major courses (tropical law, urban railway systems, electric car functions, driving theory, etc.). After completing training at the training institute, students are given the opportunity to take the test for electric railway licenses, which consists of writing tests and functional tests.

Students can earn ' Type 2 electric rail driver licenses ' if they pass both tests. The driving force of the railroad companies is relatively competitive compared to other field because only applicants who have a driver's license can compete with each other. As the demand for railroad workers grows, the prospects for employment are also bright.

Starting next semester, KIU plans to introduce additional equipment for the operation of the train service system (CAI). These devices allow students to learn the use of electronic cars, functions, malfunctions, and emergency measures through the computers for advanced learning of electric cars. In addition, KIU will increase 1:1 face-to-face consultation between professors and students and support the operation of study groups to nurture train drivers, global logistics and distribution management specialists.

"The eco-friendly and economical railway industry is becoming an indispensable industry in the 21st century, and it is evolving into an essential industry, " said Jeong Seok-bong, dean of railway department and said, " We will spur investment and support to nurture skilled human resources in the future.
