KIU (President Chung Hyuntae) was chosen as the best college by four economic organizations, the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Korean Industries, Korea Federation of SMEs, and Korea Employers Federation.

The Korea Council for University Education (KCUE) announced the results of '2017 University Evaluation from the Industrial Perspectives.' Among 31 of the top universities, KIU's Computer Engineering Department was selected as the best department in the field of software (SW). Last year, KIU was chosen as the best institution in three fields: mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, and architecture.

The purpose of University Evaluation from the Industrial Perspectives is to encourage universities to voluntarily reflect industrial demands in their curriculum. The department heads of many companies suggest core abilities, related courses, and so on to the universities and provide information based on their evaluation of conformity with the curriculum. KCUE has run this project since 2008 in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and five economic organizations. Last year, the evaluation was carried out amongst 75 universities (160 departments). Executives and staff members from 39 companies such as Kakao, LG Electronics, COSON and 2027 companies participated in the evaluation.

KIU's Computer Engineering Department regularly holds meetings for the industry-university collaboration committee so that the department can reflect the voices of those from the industrial fields in their curriculum. The department received a high score on ��� faculties' rich experience in industries ��� state-of-the-art educational facilities through government projects ��� various campus activities and club support.

Cho Hyunchul, the dean of the Department of Computer Engineering, said, "I am very glad that the department's on-site practice-based education has become publicly known." He also added, "In the age of the fourth industrial revolution, we will endeavor to develop students as practice-based software experts whom companies want to hire, and we will also expand and improve our communication channels between the university and the industrial world.

President Chung said "I am so proud of this year's result after the three fields, mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, and architecture, were chosen as the best last year," and "since our achievement was acknowledged after focusing on industry-university collaboration, we will continually provide university education which strengthens both the university and industries.
