- Kyungil University implements English Proficiency Improvement Projects for students.

Fusióne College, a liberal arts college, has launched a comprehensive 'Comparing Basic Education Skill Compensation’ program, to improve English proficiency amongst KIU undergraduate students. This program features a customizable service for students designed to cater to their language needs in several target areas outside of the classroom. The program aims to provide opportunities for improved language proficiency; between classes, after school, out-of-school and through cultural events and experiences.

For example, the 'English Clinic' is available to students who want to spend their free time between classes conversing freely with foreign professors through English. From Monday to Thursday, 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, students can participate in free discussions or thematic conversations with foreign professors in the library lobby. ‘English Clinic’ is open to all students and they can participate after making a reservation in advance, through the student portal system.

There is also a 'Goal Achievement Scholarship Challenge'. This program that allows remote students to take English lessons off-campus at an established language institute on Dongseong-ro, Daegu. Kyungil University has partnered with the institute to provide encouragement to KIU students taking English classes there by providing discounts and further incentives to help them reach their goals. After completing the application and coordinating with Fusióne College, the students will set a target TOEIC score. They will then receive a special discount and take a TOEIC class for at least three months. After the course has been completed, the university will pay tuition fees for students who achieve their target score.

In addition, there is also a 'Special Lecture' program to enhance students’ English language skills through group activities with native English professors. In the lecture, they are prompted to use the language in a practical way to cook, play sports and games or to solve problems in a positive and enjoyable way.

President of Fusióne College Lee Won-shik said, "During the semester, we strive to improve their English ability, which we believe is an essential element required for them to grow into a global talent in the future. He added’ "We have designed this customizable program in order to maximize the opportunities that these students’ have to improve their English proficiency."
