23 students in the Department of Fire Safety at Kyungil University have been assigned the task ensuring the safety of the citizens of Daegu , by performing a variety of safety activities and demonstrations for those citizens. The program will continue until the end of this year.
The main activities of these students, who are members of the campus volunteer circle "Sonamu“ ‘pine tree’ (whose name was coined as an acronym of ‘precious sharing’ and ‘infinite happiness’) include first aid through CPR education, fire fighting training for individuals and organizations in the area, fire safety and evacuation training for residents, and the creation of safety checklists to ensure safety and the elimination of unsafe practices.
The students participation in the program is closely linked to the Department of Fire Safety at Kyungil University being affiliated with the "Daegu Community Service Support Team“ which is managed by the Daegu Women & Family Foundation. Kyungil University LINC+Project Team helps cover expenses through the 'TO BE Innovator' program. To this end , The Daegu Women & Family Foundation gave students their letter of appointment to this important post, and spend time discussing future activities on May 16th.
Mr. Seung-hoon Lee, chairman of the “Sonamu” club within the Department of Fire Safety, said, "Along with the club members, we will conduct fire extinguisher training, CPR training, and fire safety and evacuation training, and thus we will become the supporters to protect the safety of Daegu citizens.“
