Hallyu star Cha In-pyo will give lectures students on the university campus.

 

Kyungil University (President Hyun-Tae Chung) announced that K-Culture Entertainment department will be established, where students will be taught on Hallyu (Korean Wave). Cha In-pyo, the original Hallyu star, will be one of the professors in the departmenet as a full-time professor from 2022.

 

Professor Cha, known from Korean dramas such as <Love in Your Embrace> and <The Star in My Heart>, is a leading role in creating a Korean wave in Taiwan and other Asian countries with dramas <You and I> and <Fireworks>.

 

With his versatile talent, Professor Cha has many achievements not only as an actor, but also as a writer and director. He has published novels <Goodbye Hill> and <Today's Forecast> successfully. He has directed the documentary film <Ongals> and has been invited to the Jeonju International Film Festival because of it as well.

 

Recently, he has been active as a lead role in the Netflix movie <Cha In-pyo>, a supporting role in the Hollywood movie <Heaven Quest>, a host of TV Chosun's humanities program <Kingsman>, and a main actor in the tvN entertainment <Bloom Flower Boy>. He is known as a familiar star to the MZ generation.

 

In addition, he is preparing to debut as a drama writer, and is continuing various activities including preparing a new novel.

 

Students entering K-Culture Entertainment at Kyungil University can choose majors between entertainment majors and OTT/movie/drama majors from 2022. A large-scale practice center was established in the metropolitan area near Gangnam, Seoul to provide on-site education for two years from the third year, and a curriculum was prepared to enable employment in various content industries.

 

It is possible to obtain a double degree after studying abroad for one year in partnership with the New York Film Academy, and is securing faculty with field experience, led by Professor Cha. A documentary production in collaboration with a prestigious university in the western United States is also expected.

 

Kyungil University President Jeong Hyeon-tae said, “Professor In-pyo Cha is essential for conducting Hallyu education comparable to that of the metropolitan area.

 

Professor Cha plans to provide convergence education in the fields of acting and directing and help students advance into Korea and abroad by utilizing an international network. He is also said to be preparing for a global festival based on short form content.

 

Professor Cha In-pyo said, "I will do my best to provide new opportunities to local students who are relatively marginalized in popular culture education compared to Seoul."
