President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera, visited at our university and was awarded the honorary doctorate degree of philosophy in politics on 9 May. ‘The Ceremonial Conferment of Honorary Doctorate for President of the Central African Republic, Faustin Archange Touadera’ was held in the library auditorium. The university president, Hyeon Tae Chung, president Touadera, the persons concerned, and guests were attended. Our university placed a high value on his contributions to reconstruction of peaceful country and development of higher education after the election of a president, and granted him the honorary doctorate degree of philosophy in politics. The university president, Hyeon Tae Chung, stated: “President, Touadera, had served as a president of Bangui university, and even after the election of president, he is still so passionate about education and teaches students at universities. We hope he endeavors to develop the Central African Republic through training talented individuals.” President, Touadera, said: “I am honoured to receive the honorary doctorate degree of philosophy in politics at Kyungil University and appreciate all of you on behalf of the people in the Central African Republic. Even though the standard of living of the Central African Republic is not considered high, I will strive for national development through education as Korea.” Our university made the mutual cooperation agreement with the capital of the Central African Republic, Bangui, in 2017. In 2018, we launched a campaign for donating items, and sent computers and garments. Students of the Central African Republic entered and are now at our university, and more new freshmen will begin attending. The Central African Republic is a landlocked country located in the middle of Africa and its population is about 5 million. President, Touadera, was sworn in as president of Central African Republic in March 2016 and re-elected as a president with his remarkable achievements for peace and prosperity in March 2021. Before he became a politician, he was a professor in Mathematics department of Bangui university and later served as a president of the university. |
