On Saturday October 15, the Black Bears, KIU���s American football team won the championship in the autumn university league of Daegu-Gyeongbuk American football, which was held in three years since COVID-19.

Kyungil University won the spring university league held earlier this year and also won the autumn league by winning all local games. KIU has taken the championship in the autumn university league in 21 years since 2001.

The final match against Yeungnam University at Yeungnam University Stadium was really fierce. Early in the game Jeon Jae-young, the running back of Yeungnam University made a touchdown and Yeungnam University was 6 scores ahead. Later in the game Shin Dong-hwa(department of Gerokinesiology, junior), the cornerback of Kyungil University made 6 points by running 40 yards and Kyungil University recorded the come-from-behind victory by making the PAT(Point After Touchdown).

In the 4th quarter, cornerback Shin Dong-hwa of KIU made 6 points by crossing the center and it gave the KIU a 20-12 lead. Although running back Lee Won-chul of YNU also made 6 points by crossing the center two minutes before the end, KIU finally won the final match 20-18.

The MVP of the league is Woo Jong-beom(school of Fire Safety, senior) of KIU. KIU���s coach, Lee Gun-young(department of Gerokinesiology, professor) was awarded as Best Coach and KIU���s manager, Kim Eun-soo(department of Nursing, freshman) awarded as Best Manager.
