The Regional University Activation Division of KIU held a "Mutual Agreement Ceremony for the Establishment of the Meta Contents Ji-San-Hak-Yeon Cluster" at the La Han Select Hotel in Gyeongju on January 31.

 

At this ceremony, Kim Ho-kwon, the head of Regional University Activation Division on KIU, and representatives from 13 companies related to meta contents, including GenoFix, Melaka, Contents Lab Slug, Esplan, D-Made 3D, A-GenTech Co., Pattern & Co., Infinity 7, All Blanc Co., Enbox Games Co., MediaPia, CION Entertainment, and AI Booster, were attended. Approximately 50 individuals participated in total.

 

During the ceremony, agreements were made regarding 4 issues. One is establishing an industry-academia cooperation system for mutual professional workforce development, another is mutual cooperation in field practice, entrepreneurship promotion for students, and job connection, the next is cooperation in academic and research activities among the agreement institutions and the other is collaborative research for regional industrial development.

 

Before the agreement ceremony, Yeo Joo-yeop, CEO of All Blanc Co., delivered a lecture on "The Future of Platforms and Contents," . In addition, Director Seo Jeong-lin of AI Booster presented on "Trends in the Hyper Casual Game Market."

 

Kim Ho-kwon, the director who organized the event as well as the head of the Game Contents Departmentin KIU, stated, "Our goal is to activate the exchange of human and material resources to foster a regional meta-contents ecosystem and cultivate excellent talents. Collaboration in related fields will not only promote regional development but also lead the way in the convergence of ICT industries in the local community."

 

Meanwhile, the Regional University Activation Project is a collaborative effort between universities and local governments to support mutual development to overcome the common crisis faced by non-capital and local universities. Kyungil University has been received 6.2 billion won in funding for two years starting from 2023 to cultivate talents in meta contents convergence majors.

 

The Meta Contents Convergence Major is a specialized educational program targeting enrolled students. It combines the strengths of five majors related to the university's specialization in the content field, including XR and AI, to respond swiftly to the rapidly changing industry trends. It offers advanced courses in emerging technologies such as generative AI, game engines, motion capture, and 3D scanning to nurture professionals in the field.
