Department of Public Administration
The Department of Public Administration trains students to become public officials(general administration, police, education, fire department, civilian workers in the military) and to work for media organizations, financial institutions, public enterprises, business corporations, and public institutions
Overview
- The department aims to provide students with the understanding of the operational process and management of public organizations as well as the acquirement of skills and knowledge needed to work as government officials. The students in our department are required to understand not only general theories of public administration but also applied areas of the discipline (e.g. staffing and budgeting). Moreover, they are encouraged to study a variety of other subjects such as politics, law and economics which are needed to pass exams required for public servants. Management skills and academic knowledge required for business corporations are also provided. In addition, we provide some courses required to pass the entrance exam to become a public servant. We provide optimized environments for preparing governmental entrance exams and public licenses (e.g. certified administrative manager and certified policy analyst). Our department has produced
- 500 graduates who are serving as public officials in Daequ & Kyung-buk provincial government, as local councillors, policemen, teachers, nurses and so on. Currently, seven graduates who earned their doctoral degree are lecturing in our university as well as in other neighboring universities.
