Introduction to the College of Social Science
In March of 2012, the College of Social Science was launched after Humanism and Social Science was divided into the College of Global Business and the College of Social Science. Our college started with the Department of Public Administration in 1988, and since then has grown with six more departments - the Department of Real Estate and Cadastrology, the Department of Police Science, the School of Social Welfare, the Department of Library and Information Science, and the Department of Liberal Arts in Humanity and Social Science. Our college with around 40 faculty members and one thousand students devotes itself heart and soul to training interdisciplinary intellectuals, while living in the era of information technology and globalism.
Based on the educational philosophy of Kyungil University - truth, creativity, and enthusiasm - and the goals - creative professionals, holistic intellectuals, and active volunteers, our college is educating students to become interdisciplinary intellectuals with three specific goals which are as follows:
First, to aid students in becoming interdisciplinary intellectuals who have more than two-areas of knowledge in order to face this rapidly changing world pro-actively.
Second, to educate students to become creative intellectuals who produce novel content rather than accumulate knowledge simplistically.
Third, to produce global intellectuals having ample international experience and communicative competence in a variety of fields, including governmental and industrial sectors.
Greetings from the Dean of the College of Social Science
Welcome to the website of the College of Social Science at Kyungil University!
Social science is an academic field in which students develop a capacity to solve real problems in our society by studying and analyzing them with scientific approaches.
Our college consists of the Department of Real Estate and Cadastrology, the Department of Police Science, the School of Social Welfare, the Department of Library and Information Science, the Department of Liberal Arts in Humanity and Social Science. Our college is an active academic community with around 40 faculty members and one thousand students.
The role of social science is especially significant in the sense that various cultures in the world work together in one rapidly changing global village and our nation should play a leading role in such an activity. Our faculty and students recognize our mission and work hard to contribute productively to our society.
Being aware that the essence of social science is active knowledge, the College of Social Science, with top-class faculty and education infrastructure, is enhancing hands-on interdisciplinary education while working together with domestic and international organizations in public sectors, social work, library, industry, and Ngo's, just to name a few. In such a direction, our college aids students in seeking a profession that is conducive to our society and to the quality of their lives.
We invite you to participate in becoming interdisciplinary intellectuals that our society requires at the Kyungil campus.
Thank you.
